Our school is using a wonderful behavior program called PBIS. (I have used this program within my own classroom for 12 years, and I love the positive results that I see from it.) PBIS allows us a school to focus on the many wonderful actions that our children take, as well as use a teaching based approach to any behaviors that might need to be changed. It is more about meeting expectations than following rules. If a child meets our school expectations, they have met any rules that we might could list for them in order for them to be safe, allow others to be safe, and for them to have a safe, responsible, and respectful learning environment. By meeting expectations, students earn classdojo points. They are to earn 40 points in a 5 day period (Friday morning - Thursday afternoon) in order to go to clubs on Friday. Any extra points that they earn, they may spend in the classroom for fun prizes (example: prize box, candy, homework pass, lunch with Mrs. Mastin, taping a faculty member to the wall, etc.)
